Cooby Dam – Unfortunately Cooby is still closed to all water based activities with on going Blue green Algae problems.
Cressbrook Dam – Some promising reports from Cressbrook over the last few days. Local anglers finding good numbers of fish in the Bull Creek arm, the most consistent lure was the Hot Bite Spectre Vibration Jig. Targeting deep schools off the larger points was the better option. A number of Yellow Belly have shown up on the deeper rock walls and banks, the ever faithful Zx Blades hopped back to the boat has had them fooled on numerous occasions.
Leslie Dam – Another great inflow of water this week, with the lake on the rise yet again this has fired the yellow belly up and got them on the move even more. Still targeting the deeper water like the edges of creek beds or the deeper banks has had the better results. Either jigging blades or soft vibes has been consistent while trolling TN60’s and deep hardbodies was also effective.
Somerset Dam – Somerset is never easy at this time of year with a lot of boat activity out on the lake especially of a weekend, the early morning and the afternoon bite will give you the better chances. With these fish being a little shut down working reaction style baits such as spinnerbaits and chatterbaits has proven successful. Trolling can be very rewarding at this time year as this is a great way of covering ground and finding those more active fish. The Smak hardbody range and Little ripper lures is the ideal bait for this situation.
Boondooma Dam – Yet again this lake stands above the rest with consistent catches. Both Yellow Belly and bass have been in great number amongst the deeper water out from the Dam wall. These fish are suspended in deep water.
When targeting these suspended fish it’s critical keeping your lure in the strike zone. Heavily weighted plastics like the slider grub or the new Storm Tock Minnow weighted with a 5/8 or 3/4 oz Jig head is perfect for this style of fishing.
There’s also a small window on low light periods where these fish are catchable on the banks, Spinnerbaits and Chatterbaits have had results.
Lake Monduran – Another crazy week out on the lake, with consistent Northely winds over the past month. this Realy helps the fish hold and get confident in the area. Finding those not so pressured fish can be the hard part. Still good numbers of fish amongst the deeper water out from the main boat ramp. These fish have reacted well to a variety of baits. Jigging soft vibes like Jackall transam can be super effective while casting Molix shad, Zerek live Mullet and Squidgie Slick Rig has again been the stand out. Both the North and south arm of B has held some great fish and this continues over the last week. Working the backs of bays and shallower flats in these areas where the warmer water holds is your best bet.
Lake Awoonga – Wind is your friend on this lake and following this will give you your best shot at getting in on the action. Targeting main lake points will be your best option during the afternoon and into the night. Working the contour of the weed on wind blown points is the standout, keeping above the weed is key. The Zerek Live mullet and the Squidgie slick rig proves to be dominant yet again on this lake.

Cooby Dam – Unfortunately Cooby is still closed to all water based activities with on going Blue green Algae problems.
Leslie Dam – The fishing on our local lake stays the same with some reasonable reports coming in. It’s that time of year when the Yellow Belly spawn and are in great numbers in the deeper water. Jigging metal blades like the Ecogear ZX40 and Smak fire blades have been the stand out lures for the Lure anglers. Targeting the edges of the creek bed has been the outstanding method. Trolling these same areas with reaction style lures such as the Jackall TN60 and spinnerbaits has picked up some smaller Cod. Keeping your life tight to the bottom is a must.
Cressbrook Dam – A little busier out on the lake this week with anglers trying to work out these tricky suspended fish. Working the deeper predominant points out in the main basin and the Bullcock creek arm. Spoons and Hot Bite Spectre vibration jigs have had the better results. Trolling deep diving hardbodies or heavy spinnerbaits like the Bassman Compact series can be very effective as well on these shutdown fish.
Moogerah Dam – By Far the most consistent lake over the past few weeks and it’s good to see that’s it’s continued through out the week. The majority of the fish have been caught at the start of the timber on the edge of the creek bed. Both Spoons and plastics weighted correctly have accounted for the better fish. Making sure you are keeping in contact with the bottom is important.
Somerset Dam – Not the greatest of weeks out on the lake with the big weather change. This has moved the fish and pushed them even harder onto the bottom. Burning plastics along the bottom has been effective while hoping Spectres has also had its moments.The Spit and Pelican Point is holding the majority of the fish.
Lake Monduran – Lake Monduran is at its absolute best with some amazing fish on offer. The Basin is holding a great number of fish amongst the deeper water out in front of the Dam wall. These fish can be caught two ways. Trolling a variety of hardbodies like the Jackall Squirrel and Barra Classic’s or cast and retrieve heavily weighted plastics like the Squidgie Slick, Zerek Live Mullet and the very popular Molix 140 Shad. Shallower points in the upper arms of the lake are still holding some great numbers of fish as well. The Berkeley Hollow belly and Shad’s hollow Shad has worked wonders rigged on a lighter Jighead.
Lake Awoonga – Another very successful week out on the lake. The day time has been tough due to the clear water but the late afternoon and night bite has well and truly been at its best. Concentrating on the large weeded points from 10-20 foot of water has worked best. Wind is your friend on any Barra impoundment and Awoonga is no different as this pushes these fish to these points in big numbers. The ever faithful Squidgie Slickrig and Molix 140 has been the standout bait.

Cooby Dam – Closed to all water activities
Cressbrook Dam – Unfortunately the reports are few and far between from Cressbrook this week. Working the deeper rock walls has been effective on some solid yellow belly. Casting or Jigging blades is your best chance. Trolling these same areas can be effective and a great way of covering water and finding those active fish. The Smak hardbody range has accounted for both Yellow Belly and good sized bass.
Leslie Dam – Leslie has again fished quite well through out the week, the hot weather has done wonders for the fish and making them very active. The late afternoon has been the pick of the bite times.
Plenty of Yellow belly were caught trolling Lipless crank baits and shallower diving hardbodies. ZX Blxes have accounted for their fair share as well, vertical fishing with these along the edge of the creek bed has been effective. Quite a few Under sized cod have also been on the move with some larger models mixed in. Targeting these fish amongst the deeper water With Chatterbaits and Spinnerbaits is your best bet.
Somerset Dam – The fishing has been very steady over the past few weeks. The early morning bite has by far far been the most consistent. Later on in the day the fishing has been extremely tough. During these times when the fish are shut down the trolling anglers are having the better success. Working the deeper water off pelican point and red rock has resulted in good fish caught. For the casting anglers the reaction style baits have had the better results. Hot Bite Spectres and other heavily weighted chatterbaits being the lures of choice.
Moogerah Dam – We’ll and truly the pic of our local lakes at the present time. The edge of the timber has held consistent fish for quite a while and they are willing to eat. Casting plastics and spoons to thee fish has been successful. For other anglers working the tree lines with TN60 and ZX Blades have worked well on the Yellow Belly.
Boondooma Dam – This lake has been nothing but on fire for some time now and it still continues to impress. The fish are spread out through out the lake.
Both the edges and the larger flats are holding good numbers of fish.
Casting Lipless crank baits and spinnerbaits have been the go too for the shallower fish while metal blades and and soft Jackall’s have been the go to lures in the deeper water.
Lake Monduran – Very impressive weekend of fishing at Monduran, Barra fishing is never easy but if your willing to put the time into these fish you will be rewarded. Northerly winds blew all last week with that being said the southern end of the lake or the north facing bays and points fished the best.
The early afternoon has fished well with a lot fish getting caught when the temp reaches its hottest. The Molix 140, Zerek Live Mullet and the ever popular Squidgie slick rig have been unstoppable on this lake. The Live mullet and slick rig during the day working those shallow points has proved yet again while working those deeper points out in the main Basin with The molix 140 has again been dominant.
Lake Awoonga – Coming off the last full Moon we seen this lake very busy with a lot of boat traffic. This can make things a little tricky to even find the fish at times. That being said The Night bite is always worth the wait Working the heavily weeded points amongst the Basin produced the better fish. During the day these fish will use the weed as there advantage, this can make locating these fish very difficult. Working jerkbaits over the weed beds during the day light hours has proved successful while of a night time fishing as close as possible to the weed with heavily weighted plastics is your best option.

Cooby Dam – Unfortunately during the week Cooby has been closed due Blue Green Algae once again.
Leslie Dam – Some great reports still coming in from Leslie, as most anglers are racking up a great tally of fish. The shallow water still being the go to areas as the fish are still on the edge after the recent rain. TN60’s and shallower diving hardbodies is great for this occasion. The Smak 12’s and 16’s have the ideal running depth. Also good fish have been caught on the old creek bed edge, targeting structure in this area with soft vibes or metal blades will be best option.
Somerset Dam – We have had a good turn around on the lake this week with some solid fish caught. The majority of the fish are holding mid way down the lake. Red Rock and Pelican Point have been by far the best. Deeper water around these areas have fish better, the old creek bed around these areas are holding numbers of fish. Targeting these deeper fish with spoons and plastics have been the go to, otherwise trolling Hardbodies like the RMG Poltergeist or Little rippers have also been effective.
Boondooma Dam – Another great week of fishing over at Boondooma with a lot of anglers getting amongst the fish. The fish are spread out all through out the lake. The edges have fished consistently over the last few weeks and remains to fish well as this hotter weather settles in. Casting TN60’s, spinnerbaits and chatterbaits to these fish has worked wonders while the deeper schooled fish have reacted well to metal blades and soft Jackall’s. The Boyne arm and Pelican point is holding some great fish, working the shallower flats in these area is your best bet.
Moogerah Dam – By far the most consistent local lake. Big numbers of both yellow belly and bass have been caught. The start of the timber is holding the better quality of fish. Working these fish with plastics like the ever faithful slider grub has accounted for the majority of bites. Trolling the timber can be very effective at this lake and a great searching tool to find those active schools. TN60’s have Worked the best for this technique.
Lake Monduran – Unfortunately with the ever changing weather last week the lake fished a little hard and the Barra were hard to keep on top of. Wind means everything at this lake. Find the bait and the warmer water temp and the Barra won’t be far away. Southern end of B arm and Bird bay has fished well over the past few weeks as the northerly winds were pushing in these areas. The Molix 140 and Squidgie Slick rig 130 have both accounted for some serious sessions.
With the water temp getting up there these fish have started to push into the basin. Trolling the larger lake points and tree lines has been effective this past week and will only get better as this weather heats up.
Lake Awoonga – Some unbelievable sessions have been encounter this week but also some very slow sessions and barely turning a scale. Right place at the right time can be critical on this lake. Shallower weeded points in the main basin have produced the better fish. Casting these points with the ever faithful Molix 140 or Zerek live mullet has again produced some incredible fish. The afternoon and night bite has been the most successful, in saying that some crazy sessions have also been had during the day. New Zealand Gully and The northern basin points are all holding fish. It’s all a matter of time. Patience is key for these fish.

Cooby Dam – Over the last few weeks Cooby has well and truly turned it on for our local anglers. With some great weather over the weekend we seen a lot of fish caught, Both Cod and Yellow Belly were in good numbers through out the lake. During the week we seen some much needed rain, this will make the fishing even better as the water runs into the dam. The fish will move up onto the edges and feed where the water runs in, the rock wall is great area to target. The trolling anglers have some great success while other anglers have had good success casting or jigging soft vibes on the edge of the creek bed towards the northern arm. Saltwater yabbies and works has also been working wonders for the bait anglers.
Leslie Dam – Another big inflow into the lake during the week will only mean one thing, the cod will be on the move. Big swimbaits will be your best chance for targeting the larger fish, locating the bait is your best chance for finding those active fish. Some great Yellow Belly have been caught over the past few weeks and this still continues. trolling has been the more successful method in the shallower water while targeting the deepe water like the edge of the creek bed with soft vibes has also been effective.
Moogerah Dam – By far the most consistent over the last few weeks with some crazy numbers of fish being caught. The spit is holding good fish and are willing to bite through out the day while the shallower timbered flats have also been worth check of a morning. Plenty of bass up towards the 50cm mark, plastics and spoons being the lure of choice for most. The yellow belly fisherman having some great success vertically Jigging blades amongst the timber.
Somerset Dam – A great time of year to be targeting the large schools in Somerset Dam, the bass are in great numbers, The middle section of the lake holds the majority of fish. Pelican Point and red rock has been the go to areas. With the warmer days the fish have been reacting better to vibration lures such as Spinnerbaits and Hot bite spectres, keeping these baits tight to the bottom is key for this time of year.
Lake Awoonga – The Barra fishing has exploded and there’s no better time than now to head up north. Consistent winds can be crucial while locating these normally hard to catch fish. Following the winds and searching for bait is key.
Lake Awoonga has seen some massive fish caught over 130cm and plenty over the magic meter mark. Targeting the main lake Points with a good amount of weed is your best bet. The Molix 140 shad and zerek live mullet stands above the rest and continues to dominate on this lake. Targeting the shallower weed with jerkbaits like the 79 and 115 Jackall Squirrel can be effective during the daylight hours.
Lake Monduran – We are seeing some amazing fishing on this lake at present with crazy amounts of fish landed. The bite has been exceptional throughout the day amongst the shallow bays, The ever faithful Squidgie Slick Rig has proved a must have bait. The majority of fish ha ve been caught close to the banks where the water remains the warmest. As we get further into summer well see these fish starting to school in the basin on larger points. The Molix 140 is perfect for that deep water bite. Bird bay and the B arm proves to be the pick of the areas.

Cressbrook Dam
Its definitely been a little tougher on the lake this week, quantity over quality. The smaller fish have been in good numbers off the main lake points in the basin, Spoons and Blades still being the lure of choice.
Somerset Dam
The best time of year to fish Somerset is upon us, some great fishing has been had during the week with some anglers having productive sessions up too 30 fish and some quality fish up to 3.5 kg. Bay 13, Queen Street and Kirkliegh Flats have been holding big numbers of fish. Spoons and Plastics have caught there fair share of fish.
Leslie Dam
Good numbers of fish caught this week on the lake, the smaller fish have been on the move with most being caught being around that 30cm mark, The bait anglers having the most success, saltwater yabbies and worms being the bait of choice, Jigging soft vibes and blades have worked for other anglers.
Borumba Dam
Good results coming from Lake Borumba this week, the fish have schooled up in the junction and out on Borumba flat, Spoons and plastics being the best technique. Early morning working the shallow bays and points with jerkbaits is always worth a try.
Copeton Dam
With the school holidays over the boat traffic has quietened down and the fishing has definitely picked up, the every faithful Jackall Gantarel fished close up onto the shallow banks and points has been by the most productive technique.
Pindari Dam
While the water levels stays consistent the dam has fished well over the last few weeks, Topwater has been the aim for most anglers as this lake has some great shallow bays while its low. Casting mumblers and larger Spinnerbaits to the rock walls during the day has seen some good fish caught.
Moreton Bay
Tough conditions last weekend offshore didnt allow many anglers to head out, The Southern end of Moreton Bay was definitely the better option for most, plenty of pan sized snapper hanging around harry Atkinson reef and peel island, early mornings on the first of the run out tide have been the stand out time. Smaller plastics and a well presented bait has seen plenty of good fish caught. Good numbers of Tailor have finally moved into the port of Brisbane, targeting these fish with metal slug or sticks have been very successful.

Cressbrook Dam
Anglers have had a very successful 2 weeks on the water since the lake re opened. Its been a case of big bass and plenty of them, being a small lake it does tend to struggle with boat pressure, Spoons and tailspinners have been the go too lures for these schooled fish, The main Lake points are holding great numbers of fish, around that 30 foot seems to be the magic mark.
Somerset Dam
Good reports coming from the lake over the last few weeks, majority of anglers getting their fair share of fish, we are coming into the best time of year where Somerset can fish unbelievably well. The top end of the dam around the Kirkliegh and Queen street flats have been the go too areas for the larger fish. Metal blades and Spoons having the most success.
Leslie Dam
A little slower this week due to the colder weather, the fish are holding very tight to the bottom and sitting close to the edge of the creek bed, Jigging soft vibes or Zx blades have been by the far the best for the lure fisherman, trolling larger Spinnerbaits and Mumblers picking up the odd smaller cod or larger yellow belly. The bait anglers have had the upper hand while the fish have been a little lethargic.
Glenlyon Dam
This lake gets a little left behind cause of its larger brother Copeton, it can be just as good of a fishery, just this week we have heard 2 fish over the magic meter mark caught on surface and its only gonna get better as it cools down towards the end of the month. Fishing the shallower banks with topwater and Gantarels will be your best bet. Fishing the edge of the creek bed along the timber line has fished well for yellow belly, always a good alternative when the Cod fishing is a little tough during the day.
Coepton Dam
Good reports coming in over the last few weeks, the afternoon/night bite has been the pick of the bite times, the Jackall Gantarel and Gigantarel speak for them selves and have been the number 1 Swimbaits for this lake, still the shallower points and bays have proved to be where the fish are holding. Coming into the Full Moon these fish may push a little shallower and can be when Mumblers and Spinnerbaits come into their own.
Moreton Bay
This time of year is always great time to the bay as the larger snapper move in on the shallower reefs and make them a little easier to target. The southern end of peel island is always a good starting point. Harry Atkinson reef has fished well over the winter so far and has produced some good snapper and smaller parrot. Targeting these fish with small plastics is a good option for the light tackle enthusiast, otherwise pilchards and squid will always be a great option

Big numbers of yellow belly were being caught over the long weekend just not the size anglers had in mind, Multiple fish around 30 cm were caught, Zx40’s and Soft vibes jigged vertically on the edge of the creek bed was the go to technique. Saltwater yabbies and worms were the bait of choice for other anglers.
Somerset Dam
A lot of anglers hitting the lake over the past week and most having some great success, Jigging blades and ice jigs have been claiming the majority of the fish. Queen Street and Kirkliegh Flats being the go to areas, Working the edge of the creek bed with these lures will be your best bet.
Bjelkie Peterson Dam
Quite a reasonable response from local anglers this week, Quantity over quality this past week, casting small metal blades and Tailspinners have been picking up a lot of the smaller fish, the trolling anglers are having good success, covering ground with a Jackall tn60 has been working well.
Moogerah Dam
Some great results over the last week, starting too move into deeper water, the spit is still holding large amounts of fish, this week the fish have suspended into 35 foot and soft plastics and spoons have been working a treat. Also worth a look inside the timber line, Trolling Tn60’s have caught some great Yellow Belly.
Copeton Dam
The first frost has definitely fired up the cod over the last week, there has been a spike in fish catches over the weekend, Swimbaits like the Jackall Gantarel and Gigantarel still being the lure of choice, while targeting the deeper fish Jackall Tn80’s and Doozer have caught their fair share as well.
Gold Coast Offshore and Broadwater
Its that time of year when the snapper show up in large numbers, the closer reefs like the 18-24 fathom reefs are always worth a look, Wider off these reefs there has been some great Spanish Mackerel hanging off these areas, Live Bait will be your best chance. For the Broadwater side of things there is some great squire on offer just east side of Wave Break Island. Targeting these fish with lures like the Cranka Crab have accounted for some great sessions.

Somerset Dam
Very hit and miss on the lake over the last week, very small bite window at the moment with the afternoon by far the best time. The shallower flats in front of Kirkleigh and out from queen street has been the go to areas, casting metal blades and spoons being the lure of choice, keeping your lure tight to the bottom is key.
Moogerah Dam
Moogerah is still fishing really well and with good sized bass being landed in the schools around the boat ramp and out from the Spit. Spoons and ½ ounce plastics have again been the lure of choice. Also trolling the shallower flats inside the timber line with Tn60 has picked up some great yellow belly.
Copeton Dam
Still the most talked about dam at the moment and for good reason. With water levels dropping it’s a time when you may have to change techniques and fish that little bit deeper, working deeper banks with sinking lures like the Jackall Tn80 or heavier Mumblers have picked up some great fish this week.
Connally Dam
A great little dam for the bank fisherman and can be very successful for those willing to put in the effort, Getting away from the mainstream lakes Connelly can be an exceptional fishery and there is continually reports of good fishing for cod and Yellow Belly, but because of the unknown it still doesn’t get fished a lot. A place to keep in mind.
Coolmunda Dam
Coolmunda is going to be off the radar for some time, unfortunately the lake has had a huge fish kill and is very low on water. Recommended to stay away till conditions change.
Dumaresq/Macintyre Rivers
These rivers are getting quite low on water at the moment, putting in the effort and searching for them smaller holes or stretches of water can see you have a very good session as this cold weather brings on the cod, the surface action has been hot and this is what attracts most fishos.
Gold Coast Jumpinpin
Its that time of year when the saltwater fishing comes into its own. The Bream have showed up in great numbers around tiger mullet channel and the eastern side of short island. There has been the odd tailor getting around on daylight but not big numbers as of yet, tailor normally show up all throughout the pin, lookin for pressure points where the bait will hold will be your best option, casting slugs or cut down plastics is always a go too.
Tip of the week
Picking your times to fish is very important. A strategy we use sometimes when the fishing is only good late arvo and into the night is to only hit the water around 3pm so that you have time to get your casting going but your not burnt out when the bite time comes. Nothing worse than fishing all day for nothing and being ready to call it a day just when the good fishing starts.

Cooby and Creesbrook still remain Closed
Leslie dam
Similar fishing continues at Leslie with the smaller fish dominating the bite around the edges. Most land based anglers or people fishing close to the edges have been catching large numbers of small Yellowbelly and silver perch mostly on Saltwater Yabbies while the lure angler has been using ZX blades with a fast wind retrieve. The odd bigger fish that has been caught has been out in the deeper water in the old creek bed locating them on you fish finder and again Yabbies or ZX blades.
Somerset Dam
Very hit and miss on the lake over the last few weeks, as the fish start to get into there winter patterns in can be a very tough time for some anglers struggling to catch or even find fish. With the fish being very tight to the bottom vertical jigging blades and ice jigs have been the most productive technique
Wivenhoe Dam
This lake has fished well over the last few weeks and continues to step it up, Fishing the shallower weeded banks with Jerkbaits or silent Lipless Crankbaits has been very successful during the early part of the day, as the day gets on catching these fish is still very possible, locating fish on the edge of the creek bed off the flats has bee the stand out, targeting these fish with Spoons and Tailspinners have been the lure of choice.
Moogerah Dam
Another one of our local fisheries that fishes well during winter, the bass are schooled up on the main lake points throughout the lake, casting Spoons and 1/2 Plastics to these fish have proved to be Dominant.
Copeton Dam
With all the talk of cod around Copeton is again the most popular destination for keen cod anglers with the big fish continuing to be landed at the lake. With the cooler weather the early mornings have been the best bite time by far fishing up in the shallow bays with Swimbaits and surface lures this has been a crazy way to catch Metre plus cod and this is the draw card for this lake. This lake has produced cod year round but the coming weeks look exceptional as the Environmental water releases come to a stop.
Moreton Bay
A lot of the year Moreton bay can be a lot of hard work and very little fun but winter is the exception with good sized snapper and whiting around the islands, Fishing mud and peel island using soft plastics or pilchards around the drop offs where the reefy bottom drops into around 20ft of water. For these overfished areas early morning and late afternoon sees the best bite times although good fish can be caught all day.

A little average fishing on the lake this past week, the odd yellow belly still being caught, the bank fisherman having some reasonable success with Saltwater yabbies and worms. Still some great cod to be caught, covering ground trolling spinnerbaits has been the go too lure for most anglers.
Somerset Dam
Some good fish being caught earlier on in the week at Somerset, Vetical Jigging Ice jigs and Blades seems to be the most productive, trolling deep diving hardbodies like the poltergeist or Smak hardbody range has picked up numbers of smaller fish, the larger fishing being a little unactive due to the colder days.
Moogerah Dam
Very similar reports of very good fishing to be had at the lake at the moment, winter time this dam comes into its own and fishes very well, the most productive technique has been fishing spoons and plastics on the shallower flat up into the dam and also out from the spit
Copeton Dam
Producing some reasonable fish this past week, fishing early mornings with swimbaits like the Jackall Gantarel and top water wake baits like the Mega Pompadour will be your best bet for a Copteon beast! During the day throwing baits like the Bassman Mumbler into steeper banks has worked well coming up to the full moon as these fish can hold that little bit deeper.
Gold Coast inshore and Broadwater
Its that time of year where the saltwater fishing comes into its own, as large bream have showed up in number all along the Broadwater. Fishing the northern wall of the spit is holding some great fish. The inshore species are well on the move and been a little harder to stay on top of, Long tail tuna have showed up just outside the Jumpin pin, casting Stickbaits and slugs is by far the pick of the lures.
Tip of the week
Time Management searching and finding that right bank or spot during the day as takes the guess work out when it counts. It is a must to be fishing your location/bank when you know the fish will only feed early morning or late afternoon for that half an hour or even less, you don’t want to be travelling spot too spot when the fish are willing to feed.

Somerset Dam
Very mixed reports this week on the lake with some anglers struggling to get a bite while others have had some very good sessions, the late afternoon bite has been by far the most consistent, Metal Blades and Ice jigs have been the lure of choice as the fish are very tight to the bottom. The trolling angers are still racking up good numbers of fish, the Smak or Little Ripper range of Hardbodies worked well on these fish. The Kirkliegh Flats and Queen street flats have been the go too areas.
Leslie Dam
Last weeks rain was enough to spark the fish up over the weekend with alot of anglers getting amongst the action, Trolling and covering ground was the stand out technique. Targeting the edge of the creek bed accounted for most of the fish. Jigging ZX blades and soft Vibes worked wonders once locating good schools of fish. Smaller Cod have been in numbers on the low light periods, saltwater yabbies being the go too.
Wivenhoe Dam
Its coming into that time of year where Wivenhoe comes into its own, as the fish mover further into the Basin and start too school up in big numbers, as for now there has been a great edge bite before it gets too warm. Casting larger Jerkbaits into Shallower weeded banks have accounted for big bass and the odd Yellow Belly, Long pauses are key when fishing these baits. Working the deeper banks with Lipless Crankbaits and Spinnerbaits is always another great option.
Moogerah Dam
By far the pick of our local lakes at the moment, the bass have just started too school up inside the the timber on the shallower 20 foot flats, Casting Spoons and 1/2 oz plastics have been the lure of choice. The trolling anglers also having success, Tn60 trolled around the heavy structure worked wonders over the weekend.
Copeton Dam
With Environmental water releases still coming out of the lake it has made it that little bit tougher, but its all about to change, as it gets colder and these water releases stop the fish will become very confident in moving into the shallower bays and pestering the masses of bait fish. A few great fish got caught over the weekend with one at 122 and another at 114cm, The Jackall Gantarel and the Zerek Live Swimbait accounting for these fish.
Gold Coast Offshore
The weekends weather allowed a lot of anglers to head out and they definitely made the most of it with some great bottom fishing, The 24 and 36 fathom fished the best with good sized snapper and smaller pearl perch getting caught, on the pelagic side of things there has been endless amounts of Long Tail and Mac Tuna getting around the South end of the Jumpin Pin Bar, Smaller Slugs and Stickbaits proved to be very successful.

A few Anglers struggling on the lake over the last week, with cooler temperatures really making the fish a little fatigued. The warmer afternoons have been the successful bite times when the temp reaches its peak. The Bait fisherman having the most success, Saltwater yabbies and Worms being the go too. Still trolling larger Spinnerbaits and Mumblers have picked up the odd cod.
Somerset Dam
Reasonable reports this week with anglers having some good sessions, trolling is still being the most productive as these fish are very tight to the bottom, The Smak Hard body range has been working a treat, Smak 16 and the Golden child model being the lure of choice. Sometimes trolling your lures at a faster speed can make these fish react when a little shut down. Pelican Point, The start of Queen street and the Kirkliegh flats are all holding great numbers of fish.
Bjelkie Peterson Dam
Fishing on BP has slowly been improving with some nice catches of Bass and Yellow belly coming in, particularly during the warmer afternoons. With the warmer afternoons and the cold morning the fish have generally been staying out deep in the 10 to 15 foot zone.
Target the edges with Spinnerbaits, blades and tail spinners. It helps if the edges have spindly timber mixed in with weed, as the fish tend to move up and feed around this structure early in the morning. The fish have been spread out over the flats next to Lightening Ridge, Bass Point and wide of the Quarry.
Boondooma Dam
Boondooma has started to pick up, the bigger Bass and Goldens are starting to be caught on a variety of techniques as the fish begin moving up shallow and sitting on the flats. The last month has seen some inconsistency but some good fish are starting to be caught. Bait fisherman are still catching good numbers of fish up in the timbered arms tying off trees and fishing with live shrimps and worms as bait. Trollers are picking up some good fish trolling around the weed edges and along the rock walls up near the dam wall and in the timbered arms with Spinnerbaits and deep diving hard bodies.
Copeton Dam
With water levels being dropped over the previous weeks it has made things a little tougher, as these fish will spread out into the deeper water, hence the trolling anglers are getting their fair share of fish. The Jackall Gigantarel has produced multiple big cod yet again. As the enviromental water releases come to a stand still we should see this lake fish incredibly well coming into the colder months.
Gold Coast Offshore/ Jumpinpin
Some great Colder weather has been settling in over the last few days which can only mean one thing, Big snapper and plenty of them. Good Numbers are starting to arrive out in the deeper reefs and will start to show up in on the close reefs as the water temp starts to cool down. The past few days there has been some great tailor hanging around the inside of the Juminpin Bar, early mornings these fish will push towards the surface and when they become a little easier to target. Live baiting these same areas has accounted for some smaller school Jew.

Still some great reports coming in from leslie this past week with the cod still well and truly on the move, Trolling is still the stand out Technique and will continue to be quite successful as this cold weather settles in. Jigging Zx Blades and Jackall Mask vibes around Submerged structure have accounted for some smaller Cod along with some larger Yellow Belly during the late afternoon.
Somerset Dam
A step back on the fishing front this week with alot of boat activity on the lake, this Dam just does not fish well under boat pressure, Pelican point and the Kirkliegh flats proving to be the stand out for most anglers. Trolling is by the most productive as covering water is key when the fishing is that little bit tougher.
Wivenhoe Dam
Good reports coming in during the holidays with anglers having some very good sessions, the edge bite is only going to get better as the colder weather settles in. Casting Lipless Crankbaits and larger Jerkbaits to the weed edges. Good shows of Yellow belly being caught along the rock walls, trolling Shallower Hardbodies like the Smak 12’s and 16’s produced some great fish.
Copeton Dam
Very steady on the fishing front this week with good fish caught all through out the dam, the fish have been quite spread out slowly moving there way up into the shallower bays as the colder weather continues. Still trolling the Jackall Gigantarels along the edges have proved to be very hard to beat. There has been a good day time bite on the smaller Cod and Yellow Belly, Jigging soft vibes have accounted for these fish, Locating structure out from predominant points in the lake should see you have the best chance.
Pindari Dam
Anglers have had some good sessions over the last few weeks, with the lake being very low at the moment and not accessible to the larger boats, its fished well with little too no pressure. Targeting the deeper banks with Spinnerbaits or a deeper Crankbait have accounted for the majority of the bites.
Gold Coast Offshore and Broadwater
With some great weather over the holiday period it allowed for a lot of anglers to head out to the closer reefs, the 24 and 36 fathom reefs fished well for Pearl Perch and good sized snapper, Good shows of Mackeral around these same reefs, Float Lining smaller live baits to these fish has proven successful. The Broadwater has fished incredible over the last few weeks with snapper up to 5kg being caught just inside the Seaway, plastics and cubed pilchards worked in the anglers favour.

Somerset Dam
Hot and Cold this past week on the lake with anglers casting struggling to get a reaction out of the bigger fish. The Anglers trolling have by far the most success, trolling the Smak hardbody range has accounted for some great sessions, Smak 16’s and the Golden Child has been the standout lure. Working the 25-28 foot mark on the north and south and of Pelican point has had some great success. Keeping your lures close to the bottom is key to getting that bite.
Leslie Dam
The Cod have definatley been on the move over the past few months and still continue to do the same, 2 over the magic meter were caught during the week, Trolling 1-2oz Spinnerbaits accounted for these fish, The fish are holding quite deep around that 15-20 ft mark among the old creek bed. The Yellow Belly haven’t been the easiest to catch, Saltwater Yabbies have been the go too for the bait anglers.
Boondooma Dam
Some very good reports still coming out of Boondooma with anglers having very good sessions up to 50-60 fish. The fish have moved further up the dam towards the junction and have schooled on the 30 foot flats getting ready for winter. Metal blades were the go too lure on these fish. Some good Saratoga have been caught up the Boyne arm, Spinnerbaits and small chatterbaits being the lure of choice.
Copeton Dam
Some very special fish have been caught from Copeton over the last week, one measuring in at a Giant 1.30cm. A Jackall Gantarel claimed this fish. As the weather cools these fish just become more and more common. Swimbaits and Topwater is what its all about, as the fish move closer to the shallower bays and target the bait fish. Trolling has also seen some great fish caught, Gigantarel with a small chin weight accounted for some beasts this past week, Copeton bay has held some good fish.
Jumpinpin
As the cold weather settles in this is a great time of year to hit our closer estuary’s, Bream are starting to school in good numbers, Short Island, Crusoe Island and Tiger Mullet Channel always proving very productive. Flathead have turned up in good numbers, Drifting along the shallower sand flats or banks is a great way to target these fish, Kallinga bank and just inside of the bar is holding some solid Jew, Live baits will be your best bet.
Gold Coast Offshore
With some great conditions over the last week giving the anglers the opportunity to head out. Good signs of Spanish Mackerel are showing up on the 24 fathom reefs, Float lining yakkas or small slimeys will be your best bet. The further reefs like the 36 and 54 fathom reefs have held good numbers of Snapper, Pearl Perch and Trag Jew, Bottom bashing with either Squid or Pillchards was the go to bait.

Still producing some great quality fish this week, Cod up too 80cm caught during the early morning, Trolling Spinnerbaits on the flats have proven to be very successful. For the bait anglers targeting Yellow Belly fishing well into the afternoon has been by far the pick of the bite times, Saltwater yabbies always proving to be the best.
Somerset Dam
With a very successful Fishing competition held on the lake last weekend,seen a lot of fish weighed in and some big ones at that, fish up to 58cm were captured trolling the Smak Hard body range, The Smak 16ft and Golden Child was the standout lure for all anglers. North and South pelican held the majority of the fish and continues to fish very well during the week. For the casting anglers we seen it fish well, Same areas casting Spoons, Spinnerbaits and Chatterbaits, keeping your lure tight to the bottom was key to getting the reaction from the fish.
Boondooma Dam
Still a standout amongst our local dams, Fished very well last weekend, some great fish were caught all around the main basin, The edge fishing was a choice for some anglers, Casting Spinnerbaits for the reaction fish or Football jigs fished very slowly on the bottom targeting the less pressured fish. Spoons and plastics worked wonders on the suspended fish out from the Dam wall. The bait anglers having great success in the Stuart arm of the dam, Worms or Yabbies being the go too.
Glenlyon Dam
With water still getting dropped from the Dam it makes the fishing that little bit tougher, pushing fish a little deeper than expected for this time of year, Casting Heavy Spinnerbaits and Mumblers tight to the submerged timber or Deeper banks accounted for some reasonable sized cod during the week, Trolling has been working well on these fish while they are moving around and finding a comfortable depth until the water level becomes consistent.
Copeton Dam
Copeton fished very well leading up to the new moon, Swimbaits and Topwater were the main focus as these fish begin to move up into the shallower Bays. The trolling anglers have had good success a little later on in the morning as the fish start to move a little deeper, Trolling Chin weighted Swimbaits like the Jackall Gantarel or Gigantarel has been hard to beat.
Gold Coast Offshore
With the weather not being on the anglers side this week, Good reports came from the mid week fisherman with some great sized snapper being caught on the 24 and 36 fathom reefs, Bottom Bashing and Berleying these fish up off the bottom was key to getting the fish to commit to baits. Spotty and Spanish Mackerel have been on the move not far from the shallower reefs up to 25m. Floating lining live baits has been the best option on these fish.

rain event, Pelican and Kirkliegh flats are holding the numbers of fish, Deep
Spinnerbaits and Blades being the go too lures. For the trolling anglers there
has been some incredible success in the same areas, keeping your lure tight to
the bottom is key to getting s reaction from the fish.

A quieter week fish wise at Leslie with a few anglers struggling through out
the day, The afternoon being the best bite time, the best method has been
jigging Zx blades or Jackall mask vibes close to structure. A few smaller cod
have been caught on the troll, running your lures tight to the creek bed has
had the most success.

The pic of our local dams at the moment, this lake is fishing very
consistently, bass are schooled in the main basin around the buoy line,
targeting these fish with plastics and spoons were the lure of choice, The
Stuart arm produced a few Saratoga after last weekends rain, casting 1/4 -3/oz
Spinnerbaits and top water lures like the micro Pompadour accounted for these
fish.
Glenlyon Dam
A massive drop in water level over the last few weeks resulted in very tough
fishing throughout that time, the Yellow Belly have been active and are willing
to eat a bait or lure, the patient anglers having good success tied or anchored
up to a tree and vertically jigging blades and soft vibes. Salt water Yabbies
also being very successful for the bait anglers.
Copeton Dam
Some great results have come from the lake over the last week on the build up
to the full moon, working that deeper water column has produced some good fish,
casting 1 oz mumblers and Spinnerbaits to deeper trees or banks was the key. As
the new moon isn’t far away these fish will get shallower to chase the active
bait, Top water and shallow Swimbaits are perfect for these conditions.
Gold Coast Offshore
The shallow inshore fishing at the coast this week has been the standout with
the Pelagic’s, big numbers of Mac, Long Tail Tuna and Spotty Mackerel have been
working down the coast, Most anglers getting a good shot at these fast moving
fish if there in the right areas. The Snapper have been active on the 24 and 36
fathom reefs, Targeting these fish with a well presented squid or Pilchard
should see you land some nice fish.

Yellow Belly.

Its the time of year when Copeton comes into its own, the fish being that
little bit deeper due to the warmer weather at the moment, Trolling the Jackall
Gigantarel with a small chin weight is getting the reaction from the fish.
Gold Coast Offshore
Finally some better weather during the week, allowing anglers to get out and
get amongst the great snapper fishing on the close inshore reefs, the 24 and 36
fathoms reefs are holding some good fish, snapper up to 8kg were caught
drifting over these reefs with either soft plastics, fresh pilchards or squid.
The Mackeral have showed up east of Mermaid beach, float lining live yakkas
have accounted for some good sessions this past week.

cyanobacteria (blue green algae) outbreak. The park area remains open.
Somerset Dam
Still very hot and cold on the water at Somerset with a few anglers having a
very hard week with the odd anglers having some hot sessions, the afternoon
bite has been by far the pick of times. Trolling has been the most productive
with big fishing getting caught around the Southern end of Pelican Point and
Kirkliegh Flats. For the casting anglers they have had good succes with Blades
and Tailspinners.
Leslie Dam
Defentely the most consistent fishing from our local Dams, still some great cod
getting caught, again trolling and covering large amounts of water is the best
bet, Large Spinnerbaits being the lure of choice for this method. The Yellow
belly have been on the move into the late afternoon, Zx blades and saltwater
yabbies being the standout.
Lake Borumba
A very special Dam that lacks attention and can be great at this time of year,
the bass are schooled quite thick at the start of the junction off the old
creek bed, targeting this fish with heavy Spinnerbaits and spoons has been the
lure of choice, also while the water temperature is up there is a very good
chance of catching Saratoga on the surface.
Copeton Dam
Its that right time of year when Copeton comes into its own. As the water cools
down there should be a great Topwater and Swimbait bite. Casting the shallow
grassy banks is key to finding these active fish.
Pindari Dam
A little warning for the fisherman travelling down to Pindari, its sitting at
8% and both ramps are out of the water, so take into consideration if you have
a larger boat you may struggle to launch. The Dam has fished quite tough due to
the drop in water level, the fish have moved onto the deeper points in the basin,
the anglers having good success have either jigged Zx blades or Jackall Mask
vibes tight to the structure.
Gold Coast Offshore
With a Big Change coming this weekend the offshore fish are gonna be off limits
for at east a week, there was good shows of mackerel starting to come in with
dolleys and the odd king fish as by catch. Still a good chance of finding a
Small black marlin on the shallower inshore shore reefs like the 36 and 54
fathom reefs. The bottom bashers have had good success with good snapper and
pearl perch being on the bite.

The dam is still producing some great fish if your willing to put the time and
effort into finding the fish. Most anglers have the success around the southern
stretch of Pelican Point. Blades, Spoon and Tailspinners have been the go to
lures. Trolling has been very effective due to where the fish are sitting in
the water column. Getting your lure close to the bottom has been key to getting
the reaction from these fish.
Wivenhoe Dam
The Dam has been fishing very consistent over the past week, with very little
boat traffic you can have a great session on these fish if you find the bite
time. The New Jackall TN80 accounted for the biggest fish coming in at 57 fork.
Spoons and fishing a Spinnerbait in the deeper water has worked well. Out from
Platypus Cliffs has held some great fish along the edge of the creek bed.
Leslie Dam
With a little run in over the past week the water clarity has been a little
dirtier than previous weeks so the lure fishing hasn’t been the best, The Bait
anglers having the most success during the week, Saltwater Yabbies and Live
Worms being the pick of the baits. A few smaller Cod were caught during the
week on Larger Spinnerbaits and Mumblers, Being persistent with these baits and
searching new water is key.
Boondooma
By far the pic of the local Dams over the past few weeks, Anglers having
success all over the dam, with the reaction bite being very good close to the
banks. Also fishing the same reaction style baits worked well on the deeper
suspended fish has worked well with fisherman getting big numbers of fish.
Lake Awoonga
With Northern Barra dams getting a massive influx of rain over the past few
weeks it is a perfect opportunity to hit one of our closest dams before the
cold weather settles in. With Jackall just releasing some great new colours in
there 79 Squirrel range that these fish havn’t seen before they will give you
your best shot, The Shallow Bays on the western side of the dam has fished well
into the afternoon.
Gold Coast Offshore
Some great Snapper have been hanging around the 24 and 36 Fathom Reefs, Float
lining whole Pilchards have worked best on these fish. This week still good reports
of smaller black marlin still chasing the bait around the edge of the reefs.

Bassday
make some of the best Japanese lures available anywhere. Their expertise in the
surface lure market is second to none with the SugaPen one of the deadliest and
best surface lures available. Their newest creation, the Backfire was
originally designed for Black Porgy on Lake Hamana in Shizuoka but it has
proven itself in our local conditions already. And like the SugaPen is sure to
be a favourite for keen anglers.
The Backfire is 65mm long and through wired making it strong and dependable. It
weighs 7.5 grams as casts exceptionally well for a small lure. The large cupped
face is capable of both dramatic pops but also small subtle ripple inducing
pops when using a slow and light touch.
The slim profile produces little wind resistance. The action is that of a
classic popper and will be excellent for bass, bream and other surface feeders.
It can be wound flat out or with a pause and wind technique.

up to 53cm, South of Pelican Point is still by far the pick of the marks.
Trolling deeper Hardbodies very close to the bottom has worked wonders, Casting
Tailspinners and Spoons in the same area produced some great quality fish.
Keeping your lure tight to the bottom with both these lure options has been key
to getting a reaction from the fish.
Wivenhoe Dam
Wivenhoe is quite a hidden Gem due to its size but holds the biggest bass in
QLD, Definitely worth a trip at the moment with good quantities of big bass
getting caught, the deeper rock walls have been holding some great fish,
casting Jackalls and Spinnerbaits in these areas have caught great fish,
casting spoons and metal blades have fished well on the schools once located.
The flats off Platypus cliffs and Billy’s Bay has been holding good numbers.
Leslie Dam
Leslie has fished very well over the last few months with good catches of
Murray Cod over the meter mark, still continues to fish reasonable just not the
quantity like it was. Alot of smaller Yellow Belly have been getting caught
during the week with the odd cod as by catch, covering water trolling across
the main lake points has been the undoing of some good fish. Jigging Soft Vibes
or Zx 40’s in the Deep water off the edge of the creek bed is always a Safe
Bet.
Boondooma Dam
By far the pick of our Local Lakes, The casting anglers have the most success
fishing Spinnerbaits and Jackalls up onto the shallower edges, along with the
steeper rock walls in the narrows casting Weedless jigs or Soft Jackalls. The
fish are well schooled in the main Basin not far from the dam wall, Targeting
these fish with plastics and spoons have been the lure of choice.
Copeton Dam
With the Dam getting a lot of attention over the holiday break there was some
great fish caught all over the lake, the main basin being the most consistent
with the water levels dropping. Casting Larger Swimbaits towards the shallower
edges like the Jackall Gantarel and Gigantarel have accounted for the majority
of the fish, with Mumblers getting the deeper fish.
Gold Coast Offshore
The Gold Coast Heavy tackle fisherman have just had the greatest 2 weeks Marlin
fishing they could wish for. Marlin from 20kg to 100kg have been caught east
roughly 30-40km out from the spit. Trolling smaller Skirts have picked up the
active fish while the anglers finding the patches of bait have had great
success on live baiting Slimy Mackeral.

Cooby Dam still remains close to due to elevated numbers of E.Coli bacteria.
Cressbrook Dam
Still Great action on the dam this past week, with a lot anglers catching good
numbers of fish, havnt been the biggest fish but great fun for the kids if you
find a patch of active ones. Tailspinners and metal blades getting most of the
attention, The Bull Creek arm of the dam has been holding consistent numbers.
Somerset Dam
Very hit and miss due to the weather patterns we have had the past few days,
the eastly winds have pushed the fish quite tight to the bottom, the trolling
anglers have had most of the success, keeping your lure tight to the bottom is
key when the fish are shut down. Little rippers and Smak Golden Childs getting
the bites. Pelican Point has been the most productive with a lot of fish on the
northern and southern parts of the point.
Leslie Dam
With the amount of traffic on the lake the last few week’s the dam hasnt been
effected to much, a lot of smaller yellow belly have been caught on the edges
of the creek, trolling small hard bodies has worked well, Once locating
submerged structure Zx Blades and Mask Vibes have worked well to get the bites,
a few smaller cod were picked up in front of the wall last weekend, casting
Spinnerbaits were the the go too, Saltwater Yabbies and worms have been
consistent for the bait anglers either on the bank or in the boat.
Boondooma Dam
Still plenty of fish to be caught all over the lake, The stuart arm is holding
good numbers of fish after the recent water level rise, casting Spinnerbaits
and lipless crankbaits have worked well on these fish, for the shooled fish
locating them has been the easy part although at times being quite hard to
tempt, The Junction, Pelican Point and the 3rd bouy from the ramp has proved to
be the pick of the spots, Spoons and plastics being the lure of choice.
Glenlyon Dam
This Dam is realy firing at the moment with some great cod being caught,
Casting Large Spinnerbaits and Mumblers have been the lure of choice, fishing
close as possible to the standing timber has been key to getting the bites, the
yellow belly have been quite active as well with anglers getting good results
trolling the steeper banks in the basin. Jigging blades and soft vibes close to
the timber is another great option for this lake and can be very productive
once locating the fish.
Gold Coast Offshore
Very trying conditions this past week with the weather not being on our side,
Anglers that did get out in the short windows caught some great fish, Quite a
few Small Black Marlin have been caught wide on the 36 and 50 Fathom reefs,
along with quality sized dolphin fish as a great By catch. For the closer
inshore reefs the bottom fisherman have been getting a good mixed bag of
Reefies including Parrot, Pearl Peach and decent some decent Snapper, a well
presented Pilchard being the bait of choice.
